About Us
Agronomy and Horticulture Services L.L.C. is a North Carolina limited liability company based in Wilmington, NC. Formed in January 2001, the company's focus is twofold: 1) To solve agronomic management and horticultural problems and 2) To provide the finest in customized employee pesticide/safety training to golf courses, municipalities, and the "green" industry.
Dr. C. Bruce Williams is a Certified Professional Horticulturist by the American Society of Horticultural Science, Certified Plant Professional by the North Carolina Association of Nurserymen, a NC Licensed Pesticide Consultant, and a Certified North Carolina Landscape Contractor Instructor. He provides the expertise in agronomy, horticulture, and employee training. Dr. Williams has over 30 years experience in the Green Industry as a teacher, turfgrass specialist, private consultant, and public garden director. He holds a Doctorate in Agronomy and a Master's degree in Horticulture from Auburn University with an undergraduate degree in Biology from Randolph Macon College.
Dr. Williams produced and hosted the long running (11.5 years) weekly 30-minute "DownEast Gardener" television show and a 2-minute information segment, "DownEast Gardener" on WECT-NBC (Wilmington, NC). In addition, he authored a weekly "DownEast Gardener"/ "Plant Doctor" garden column for over 18 years in local newspapers and magazines. In 2007 he began development of his own garden television production. "Grow Your Own with Dr Bruce" is the result of a collaboration with Carolina Video Edit Center and currently airs on WILM-CBS(Wilmington), WRAL-DT (Raleigh), and numerous cable providers (ATMC, HTC, Time-Warner, and Charter Cable) throughout North Carolina.
Dr. Williams is active in horticulture consulting, turfgrass culture, and other forms of agriculture. He served two terms as the Associate Editor of HortTechnology Journal and has authored dozens of scientific articles, technical columns, and garden brochures. In 2006 and 2007, Dr. Williams was awarded the Presidential Silver Volunteer Service Award for his agricultural service to developing countries.
